Experience the ultimate cycling adventure across the breathtaking landscapes of Corfu Island. This demanding 60 km route is designed for experienced cyclists seeking a combination of scenic beauty, cultural heritage, and rewarding climbs.
Starting near Corfu Town, the tour begins with a ride toward the traditional village of San Marco, one of the island’s oldest Venetian settlements. Admire its beautifully restored stone houses and Byzantine-era chapel before climbing to the bell tower, where spectacular panoramic views unfold across Corfu’s lush interior and coastline.
Continue through endless olive groves toward the picturesque medieval village of Ano Korakiana. Here, enjoy a tasting of authentic olive oil snacks and local delicacies at a traditional kafeneio while exploring the narrow cobbled alleys, hidden tunnels, and elegant Venetian mansions that preserve the atmosphere of another era.
The route then leads toward the mountain village of Sokraki, featuring 27 challenging switchback turns that reward cyclists with stunning countryside scenery. After a refreshing stop to taste the famous local ginger beer, “Tzitzibira,” the journey continues through Troumpeta toward the villages of Vistonas and Makrades.
Visit the historic Angelokastro Fortress (optional entrance fee: €2.50), one of Corfu’s most impressive Byzantine castles, dramatically perched above the Ionian Sea. Afterwards, enjoy a traditional Greek meze at a local kafeneio before descending toward the magnificent bay of Paleokastritsa.
Free time is provided for swimming in the crystal-clear waters, relaxing by the sea, or optionally visiting the famous monastery or taking a boat ride to the sea caves. The return ride follows fast, low-traffic country roads back toward Corfu Town.
