Depart from our terminal for a full-day tour along the coastal National Highway to the Corinth Canal for a short stop. Continue to Mycenae, the ancient kingdom of the mythical Agamemnon. Explore the archaeological site, which includes the Palace of Agamemnon, the Lion Gate, and the Tomb of Agamemnon. Before lunch, there is an optional visit to a local pottery factory.
After lunch, drive through Argos to Nafplia, the first capital of modern Greece, where you can see the Venetian fortress of Palamidi and the fortified islet of Bourtzi during a short stop.
Next, continue to Epidaurus and visit the ancient theatre, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Epidaurus was renowned as the healing center of the classical world and is said to be the birthplace of Asklepios, son of Apollo and the god of medicine. The theatre, famous for its remarkable acoustics, remains one of the best-preserved classical Greek structures and is still in use today.
The Mycenae–Epidaurus tour returns to Athens in the late afternoon.
